It's very important for students to be self aware when they are reading. They should stop every so often to make sure they can figure out new words, retell in their own words, picture the story in their mind and/or make meaningful connections. In 2nd grade we are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn. Lots of great reading and thinking strategies to learn this year!
